As we were getting ready to leave the base, the Star Spangled Banner played over loud speakers on the base and over the radio. Everyone stopped in their tracks and saluted until the song was over, then continued on with their business.
We explored more of Misawa, driving around in back alleys and checking out small shops, then spent the rest of our day at Michael’s house in leisure. Tomorrow we would begin the actual road trip.
